Release: v2.8.1.1 on GitHub Deadline: All users must upgrade before Monday, July 14, 2025, 18:00 GMT or you will not be able to connect to mainnet.
What’s New?
- Protocol bump to 70520
- SPORK18: Enforces the new protocol version from July 14, 2025, ensuring everyone is on the latest software.
- SPORK21: Adds the ability to temporarily freeze coins at specific wallet addresses (max 4 weeks, not burned, only blocked from spending).
- SPORK signing key: Currently held by Foztor, planned to move to multi-signature (multi-sig) control soon.
- String-enabled SPORK support
Notes for Masternode Owners
- You must restart your masternode after upgrading.
Freeze Feature (SPORK21)
- No addresses are frozen right now.
- Any freeze will require DAO consensus and multi-signature approval in the future.
- Frozen coins are not lost; once the freeze expires, they are spendable again.
